Who is it for?

You! Well, why not you? Whether you are a beginner or an experienced quilter, we have lots of things to offer you. We will go over the basics for the newbies and we will provide excellent teaching and new techniques for our well-seasoned friends.

What do I need to bring?

We will provide fabrics and threads and, if needed, a sewing machine. Although we do suggest that if you have a machine, you bring your own, because otherwise it can be a little bit like learning to drive somebody else’s car and we want you to get the most from this retreat instead of spending your time learning how to use a different sewing machine. We can help you carry your machine from the car.

What else?

We also have fabulous, lovely, delicious food. Josie has tried it and raved about it. Josies husband also loved it (which is really a high bar) and all this set within the beautiful surroundings of Hambleton, Easingwold. This is just outside York in grounds that would impress Downton Abbey fans.

What if I can’t manage the stairs?

Not to worry, there are only two or three places where there are a couple of stairs, and in those places there are stairlifts. Also if you need us to carry your bags up and down for you, that is no problem we are more than happy to help.

What is this sleeping accommodation like?

Everybody gets their own ensuite room; it will either be a double or a twin. Nobody shares unless you want to, of course. The accommodation block is a modern building just next to the training building. It has a lift to all floors, and we are very happy to help you with your bags. Tea and coffee facilities are also in every room.

What if I need a special diet?

Well, if that’s the case, that is no problem. Tell us, before you come, what you will need and the chef will arrange for the appropriate food for you. For everybody there will be variety and choice. With plenty of cakes, tea, coffee, biscuits and puddings. We will not go hungry. Do not worry about that.

What else is there to do while I am there?

There are some beautiful grounds with some lovely flat walks if you’re not up for a long hike. For those who are a little more active there is a gym and a pool table. For the evenings there is a bar (although you will have to buy your own alcohol) On the final evening we will be entertained, (if you want to, know pressure) by Phil who has agreed to do ‘The ghost walk’ around the grounds for us.  Although for the nervous people amongst us please let me reassure you that we keep the ghosts 4 miles away in a big wood and they will not come anywhere near the buildings… I promise! One of the benefits of a modern sleeping block, I suppose.

How much does it cost?

It costs £1,200 per person. This includes fabrics, training, accommodation all of your food, tea, coffee, snacks and loads and loads of fun.

Please contact us for group booking quote contact us josie@funkyneedlework.com or leave a message on 07967210117 and we will call you back.

What time shall we arrive?

You can arrive Anytime in the morning on the 25th January2023 . We will settle in have a wonderful lunch and then start the sewing fun after lunch. We will have the training room all day on the Sunday as well so that we are not cut short. We will not be in a hurry to tip you out.

What if I feel like doing something else one day?
